COLLIN CADMUS

#103 BROTHER PROTAGONIST

Born and raised in New Jersey. I grew up in an average suburb town with my parents and two sisters. When I moved to Rhode Island to attend Johnson & Wales I never thought I would consider joining a fraternity. After freshman year went by I realized I wanted to get more involved on campus and get more out of my college years. So I spent my sophomore year getting to know the different fraternities and it wasn’t until my junior year that I finally found TEP. I liked that TEP was being re-founded, which would give me the ability to do more than just “join” and rather help “re-build” the organization. Once I become a brother, my goal is to make sure that Tau Epsilon Phi has a strong future and that it will survive in a positive aspect forever, so that it never has to be Re-Founded again.

EDWARD KIM

#104 BROTHER RYU

My name is Eddie Kim and I was born on July 11, 1987 in Washington, DC. I was raised in Fairfax, VA where I lived my whole life. My father’s name is Brian and my mother’s is Chris. I have one sister, Lora who is 24 and one brother, James who is 21 years old. As a little kid I loved playing sports outside with my dad and my brother. I enjoyed skateboarding, playing basketball, baseball, and soccer. I always enjoyed the outdoors.

From kindergarten to the eighth grade I attended a private school in Chantilly, VA called St. Timothy Catholic School. At this school, I built my faith and learned more about the Catholic religion. Since it was a very small school, I’ve made very close friends with the kids in my grade. During this time, I joined baseball and basketball community leagues and continued to play these two sports to high school. I was a trouble maker during my childhood, which I don’t regret at all because every time I got in trouble, I learned from my mistakes. Life is about making mistakes and learning everyday. I wish my parents didn’t have to feel the consequences from what I have done but unfortunately I have disappointed them in the past.

As my friends from middle school continued on to a private high school, I went to the public school system for the first time. I didn’t know what to expect from a public school and I did not know a single person. I quickly adjusted to the new atmosphere but lost touch from most of my old friends. The only year I missed from high school was my senior year. I had the best time with my friends. I live about 2 ½ hours away from the beach and I will always remember my trips there with them.

I graduated from Fairfax High School in 2005. My next step was going to George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. I attended the university for one year studying business management. In the middle of that first year I decided my career in the hotel industry and applied to Johnson & Wales University, which is known for their academics in the hospitality field. I was excited when I received an acceptance since I will soon study about my career and material that actually interests me.

After getting adjusted to the school, I decided I wanted to be a brother of Tau Epsilon Phi. I wanted to be part of a nationwide organization that will benefit not only myself but the community which we are in. I am looking forward to giving back to the community with my brothers and to be a part of a tradition that generations after me will also join. Being a part of this fraternity has benefits in the long run which will help me with my networking for a future career. I’m really looking forward to the good times and want to enjoy the rest of my college career as a brother of Tau Epsilon Phi.

COREY CARPENTER

#105 BROTHER SPARTAN

Well first of all I am from a lonely town in the northwest corner of Connecticut called Torrington on May 2, 1987. Growing up for me was kind of difficult mainly because my mother had me when she was only 17 years old while still in high school, so when she had me both of our lives were effected greatly. Of course at that age my mother wasn’t married to my father and when I was born my mother and father split up and went their separate ways. So for about 5 years my mother had to raise me by herself. Then in 1990, my sister was born and her name was Briana. My mother, a few months later got married to her father name Richard Sears, which was an ex Marine. Life was pretty normal for a while until he started with a drinking problem and got abusive. My mother, my sister and I had to leave and go on our own again. We found an apartment and stated our own lives.

In our town most people know everyone else, or have at least heard of them at some point. We really pride ourselves on our local high school. Basically if you do any kind of sport in high school at the varsity level, the whole town will know you by name. Unfortunately for me I decided to take a different route in my high school education. I decided to go to the local technical high school called Oliver Wolcott Technical High School. When I first entered tech, as we called it, I had no clue what I wanted to do or even if I wanted to play any sports. Freshman year we go through what is known as exploratory and we get to experience each and every shop including hairdressing. After that I had a decision to make about what shop I wanted to take for the rest of my high school career. I decided to choose manufacturing technology, which is what my mom is doing for her career. Also I joined the soccer, basketball, and baseball team freshman year making varsity for baseball and soccer right away. After my four years at tech I had been on each varsity team for 3-4 years and eventually being captain of each team. I feel that sports are a constant in my life that will always make me who I am.

During my senior year in high school I had t make a decision to either, go out in the workplace and make a low salary, or go to college and eventually after many loans make a lot of money. The choice was very simple for me and of course I choose to go to college. For my family this would be the first. I was the first child to go to college right after high school and do it the right way. I was accepted into Johnson & Wales University and upon graduation in June 2005, I decided to go there for computerized drafting as an associate’s degree.

RHYAN SCOTT CYR

#106 BROTHER BUDDHA

Born May 7, 1985 in a small town Berlin, VT located in central Vermont. Rhyan Scott Cyr was the name given to me that morning at 8:20am. I came into this world already with an older brother Christopher Cyr who is just about a little over a year older then me. My parents Mark & Kimberly Cyr as well was born in raised in central Vermont. Now in their early forties, they where just 20 and 21 when they had both us kids. They married young and are still together for over 25 years now. I grew up in a town called Barre, VT. It's a very small hometown like city with only a populations of 12,000 people. For about 19 years of my life growing up I lived in the same house and just recently when I started attending college is when they sold my childhood house. Spaulding High my local high school is where I graduated with approximately 150 students in June of 2004. I personally stop attending high school in January of 2004 and worked fulltime and walked with my graduation class in June. I took almost a year off before I attended Johnson & Wales due to a family event that made conditions a little hard for me to leave home.

My passion is to travel and I have visited all over the east coast, along with Italy, Canadian, Costa Rica and Jamaica. My first trip out of the country was to Italy where I spent over 14 days and travel through six different cities. This is when I realized that I had a passion for travel. I would love to one day backpack though Europe when I graduate college and maybe work with a company that allows me to travel though the world.

My biggest accomplishment to this day is attending college though a very difficult time of my life freshman and sophomore year my father was in Iraq. Now that I'm about to be a junior my father is home safe, and now college life is going great. Becoming part of Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity is nothing I saw myself doing in my college career until the right opportunity approached me. I believe that this fraternity is what I am looking for. This organization will teach me a great amount of leadership skills along with creating an outstanding brotherhood with a group of excellent guys.
