ADAM FERRO
#78 BROTHER TELLER
My name is Adam Ferro and I was born on April 24, 1993. My close family consists of my grandpa and grandma Ferro and my aunt Rose who all live in the same house. On my mom’s side is my grandpa and grandma Pulaski. They are all like second parents to me, whenever I need something or just need a favor I can always rely on them being there to talk to.
Growing up, I was very athletic. I was always playing baseball, basketball, football or soccer. In 7th grade I discovered skateboarding. At that time, I pretty much stopped playing sports and skateboarded all the time. Now 6 or 7 years later I am just as active in skateboarding as I was in 7th grade.
Last year at this time I had no clue where I wanted to go to college and Johnson & Wales wasn’t even on my list of schools to look at. After applying to a few schools my dad gave me a JWU application to fill out. I soon gave it to my sister and made her fill it out for me. The only reason I sent in the application was because I didn’t have to write an essay for it. Well it turns out I didn’t get into the school I wanted to go to , so Johnson & Wales was my only choice.
For the last couple of years I have been visiting my sister at Boston University. She introduced me to the brothers of Tau Epsilon Phi. I soon became good friends with most of them. When I started at JWU my buddy James, one of the brothers at B.U., said I should join the TEP chapter at J & W. He soon got in contact with them and the rest is history.
As of right now I feel I have made the best decision of my life pledging Tau Epsilon Phi, they are all the coolest guys. I am having a lot of fun so far and I’m sure it has only just begun. I feel I bring a lot to the fraternity. I bring what knowledge I have, I bring my creative ideas, and I bring my friendship. Although the pledge process is hard at times I’m sure it will pay off in the long run.
JESSE HALSTEAD
#79 BROTHER SHAKESPEARE
I was born on January 9, 1982. I have two brothers and one sister. My brothers are 18 and 14. My sister is 16. My father left us when I was six, and we never saw him again.
I went to Valley Park Elementary School until the second grade. I entered St. Mary’ Regional School and graduated from there in 1996. My high school was St. James. I played soccer for three years, I was a member of the swim team for four years and the captain for two. I was captain of the lacrosse team for two years and played for four, and I also played football for one year. I attended many dances and was an active member of various clubs including the varsity club, prom committee, S.A.D.D., and Foot Lights(a one act play). I am currently dating a girl named Sarah who is my high school sweetheart and is possibly my true love. I graduated St. James in May of 2000 where my class was the last class of St. James.
I entered Johnson & Wales University in the year 2000, and I am currently a sophomore with hopes to receive my Bachelors Degree in Travel and Tourism. So far while at Johnson & Wales I have been a member of the lacrosse club, been a work-study, and taken part in the talent show for my dorm. I am doing very well this year. Last year I didn’t do to hot, but this year I am a little bit smarter.
I chose Tau Epsilon Phi because every member of this fraternity chapter has had hope and faith in me. They all became my friends and stuck by my side when it was rough. I had no trouble making friend but in this process I have made life long friends. There was also no pressure put upon me to join as other fraternities did.
While a member of Tau Epsilon Phi I can bring new ideas and a positive outlook about things. Everyone has a different way of thinking and on certain subjects I can be better than the next guy, but on the same token other subjects I am the worst person for an idea, which brings me to what I get out of Tau Epsilon Phi. I can gain friends and family. It is a brotherhood, which to me means a bond of a family. I can also gain many new ideas and different aspects about life. I can gain the big brother I never had and I can gain a role model. I can become part of the elite, a brother of Tau Epsilon Phi.
COREY AGUILLARD
#80 BROTHER BISHOP
I was born on January 8, 1983. I lived in Saudi Arabia with Sandy Aguillard and David Aguillard, my parents. I have one sister, Kristen Aguillard.
My first real memory has to be a soccer ball at my feet. I’ve been playing soccer since I was old enough to stand. I played everywhere on the field, and even refereed a few games. My favorite position is Right Wing Defenseman. I was voted "Best Defenseman in the League", and once I was asked to join the National Team. In school, I was involved band, soccer, volleyball, basketball, theater, and I played some flag football. I was made captain of the volleyball team my freshman year, for the simple fact that I was the oldest. My greatest accomplishment in Saudi was getting my linesman certification from FIFA and the International Soccer Organization.
I left Saudi and went to Easthampton, MA. to attend boarding school. There I was one of the select few students who had "Run of the Theater" privileges. I studied lights, sound, theatrics, acting, directing, and producing while there. My sophomore year I was coaxed into playing lacrosse, and I’ve loved it every since. I play goalie, and I’m pretty good at it. I’ve been playing for three years now. I took your basic English, Math, and Sciences classes. My senior year I was allowed to take three classes, instead of the mandatory four, and cook in the school dinning hall. The faculty all knew I was going to culinary school, and I’d already made the credits needed to graduate.
For me, the decision to go to Johnson & Wales was an easy one. It was either acting or cooking for majors, and since cooking has much more job security, I decided on cooking. I started looking at cooking schools. My ex-girlfriend recommended Johnson & Wales, so I looked into it. J&W fits me like a glove. It’s got a great reputation for the Culinary Dept. It’s got sports, clubs, theater, and I am free to live my own life. It was pretty much a no brainer for me.
I’ve always been interested with the inner workings of a fraternity. I began looking into them as soon as I got to J&W. I began looking at Tau Epsilon Phi. The brothers treated me as a person, and a friend, not just a potential pledge. I really admired that. I’d looked at other fraternities before, but these guys were just cool. They didn’t push me to join, they just asked. They treated me with respect, which I love. I have gained so much on my journey to becoming a brother. I have gained self-confidence, and self-respect, not to mention the trust and respect of my line brothers. I have gained lifetime friends, all of whom I cherish. I hope to bring friendship, loyalty, and service to the fraternity. I love Tau Epsilon Phi, and I want to do everything I can to see that it is the best fraternity it can be.
WILLIAM McBRIDE
#81 BROTHER STONEWALL
My earliest memory that I can recall would be up on two skates. I was about five years old. Ever since then I was addicted to hockey. However with spending as much time as I did on the ice it was hard to make as many friend as I would have liked. So I turned to my hockey guys for friendship. The only problem with that is that the team would change every year and I would have to see those friends move on or myself having to move on and leave them behind. The only real friends I had when I was younger were the ones that were in the neighborhood who played hockey as well. But like all of the other times, when I left for college, I had to leave them behind as well.
When I got to college I made some really close friends that I still talk to. Some of the other friends that I made over my first few college days were some of the brothers of Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity. The bonds that I made there playing floor hockey and just hanging out were priceless in their own way. I’ve also made some of my closest friends with the ones that I live with right now. When I told my parents about moving off campus they were happy, but then I told them that it was with five girls and I thought they were going to flip out but they just asked if they were going to clean up the house and cook for me. We have gone through just about everything together. I watched two of them become sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority and the rest bond tighter and tighter. However once again I will have to see them move on.
While at college I had no idea that my competitive hockey career would end as soon as it did. When I had to tell my parents that I was no longer playing I thought that they would be as upset as I was, however they were really supportive. They told me that I could basically go out and have the fun that I was missing out on.
That was when I was told about the opportunity to become closer friends with the brothers of Tau Epsilon Phi. I was slightly nervous at first deciding to join. However as time went by I’ve discovered that I could do this and it was something I wanted to do. I wanted to be a part of something that I couldn’t do while wrapped up in college hockey. This is now where my next chapter in my life begins. It doesn’t matter where you go in life, its who’s beside you that makes the difference.
