ROBERT D. McDONAGH

#61 BROTHER CRASH

Hi I知 Robert David McDonagh. I知 a freshman majoring in Food and Beverage Management. I知 from Quincy, MI. were I was born on August 25, 1978 at 10:37 a.m. My family consists of my mother Marcy, my father Larry, and my two older sisters Bridgette and Karyn. I was born in Detroit, MI and moved to Quincy a few years later.

Iwas very active in high school. I was in V.I.C.A., D.E.C.A., Youth Club Council, and Fire Explorers. I excelled my senior year and went to nationals for DECA.

I have two tattoos, one that says "Rob" and another which has the Johnson & Wales crest. Speaking of which, I came to Johnson & Wales because of the promise of a strong DECA chapter. I later found this to be very untrue. Due to this set back I began to search for options and found Greek Life to be quite interesting. This past winter I met two brothers of Tau Epsilon Phi and became instantly sure of what I wanted and I am now a proud member of the ETA class of Tau Epsilon Phi. The proud men which make up TEP are unique and I have never felt more at home with anyone else. I look at this organization as if it were my family away from home and that is exactly the way they treat me, like family. I look forward to the years to come.

JOHN BABCOCK

#62 BROTHER FORECAST

My name is John Babcock, and I am an nineteen year old sophomore at Johnson & Wales University were I major in Management, with a concentration in Accounting.

I was born and raised in Easthampton, Massachusetts. My parents are John and Ellen Babcock. I have two younger brothers, Brian, and Patrick, and a cat named Pediddle.

Easthampton is a little town about twenty minutes north of Springfield, Massachusetts. There is only one working stop light in Easthampton, to illustrate how small my town is. There I attended Easthampton High School, and graduated 36 out of 132 students, on June 6, 1996.

I was a member of the National Honor Society, in good standing. I was also an active member of Project Share, a group of people dedicated to community service. I was a member of the High School band, being the Vice President my senior year. While in high school, I was also an active athlete, competing in Ice Hockey, and Baseball, both in the school, and out.

I was a member of the Varsity Ice Hockey team, from the beginning of my freshmen year till the end of my senior year. I was the starting goal tender from the beginning of my sophomore season till the end my senior season. My senior year I received the Coaches Award for dedication to the sport of Hockey. During my Sophomore and Junior years in high school, I was a member of the Junior Varsity Baseball team as well, being a starter each year, and the Captain of the team my Junior year.

Outside of school I was a member of the Royal Colombian Drum and Bugle Corp, for a brief time. I was also an Assistant Coach for the local Hockey Association, winning a state championship my senior year. I was a Paper Carrier for the Daily Hampshire Gazette for over seven years being named the Carrier of the Month once. I have been employed by the local Burger King, for about three years now, being named employee of the month once.

I chose Johnson & Wales for a few reasons. The first of which is the 98% employment rate. That is a great incentive for anyone. I also like the small classes, and the personal attention. A personal reason for choosing JWU, is I wanted to experience life on my own. I知 just a little too far to go home every night, but close enough to go home if I need to. I think JWU is the best school for me, because of these factors.

At Johnson & Wales, I was a member of the Vipers Intramural Sports team. The Vipers are a team that plays floor hockey, within JWU. I am also a member of the University Involvement Board Screening Room. The Screening Room shows movies to JWU students. I am an Auxiliary Student Officer, with Johnson & Wales University Safety and Security, for my work-study. For a brief period during my freshmen year, I was a member of the JWU Inter-collegiate Ice Hockey team, until struggling to keep my grades satisfactory to myself. This year I am a member of Tau Epsilon Phi痴 intramural floor hockey team.

Once I graduate from Johnson & Wales, I hope to enjoy a management position in a Fortune 500 company, and someday I will own my own sporting goods store.

#64 BROTHER ARAGORN

My name is Mike Fallen. I was born on October 12, 1979 in Portland Maine. My parents are Kevin and Rita, but I live with my father and step-mother in Gorham, ME. My father who is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, owns his own catering business. For eight years, I worked side by side with my father, doing everything from being a waiter to cooking. I also have a brother named Chris, who is in the Army, and a sister named Michelle, who lives in Florida. I have a dog named Sugar, and a cat named Smudge. I have a new girlfriend who was in the Navy, but decided to become a pastry chef instead. Her name is Melanie.

In 1995, I entered the Westbrook Regional Vocational Center, and studied Culinary Arts, receiving high honors both years I was there. At the same time I was attending Bonny Eagle High School, and was active in many extra-curricular activities. I was a member of the tennis, and skiing teams, a part of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Vocational Industrial Club of America (VICA), the National Vocational Technical Honor Society, the National Honor Society, and all the while helping my father. I also have been very active in community service activities such as: parties for the handicapped, soup kitchens, bottle drives, and fund raising events.

Since being here at Johnson & Wales University, I have had a 3.00 GPA for the first 2 terms. I am now doing well in my first term of lab classes. I am active in VICA and all community service projects that the organization does. I go home to work on weekends, whenever my father needs me.

Although I am involved in numerous activities, I enjoy challenging myself to be the best I can be. I have been successful so far at almost everything I have done. I look forward to being successful in the future, and owning my own business.

GERALD T. WARNING, Jr

#65 BROTHER WHITE OWL

My Name is Gerald T. Warning Jr., I am the son of Gerald and Boonson Warning. I was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 9, 1978, but I was raised in South Carolina since the age of six. I come from a military family of six in which I am the baby and only boy, I have three sisters whose names are Anchalee, Mary, and Sherry. Since my birth my family has only lived in three different places before my father retired, Omaha, Nebraska; Anderson AFB, Guam; and Sumter, South Carolina.

I graduated from Hillcrest High School (Home of the Wildcats) in Dalzell, South Carolina where I had the great honor of being part of the last class to graduate from that high school. While in high school I was pretty active in a number of things, such as FBLA(Future Business Leaders of America) which helped me out in variety ways, that's where my life changed. FBLA helped get the skills I needed to get a job like my U.S. Senate Page position in Washington D.C. It opened up a whole new world for me, and played a big role on why I chose Johnson & Wales University.

College was not only a dream of mine, but one of my mothers, she's worked hard all her life to strive for a better one for her children. She would always tell us from when we were kids to this very day, "To Be Someone", she always says don't settle for second best, be successful in life. So when I think of why I am here, I think of my mother, I think about all the opportunities she's never had, but are within MY grasped. So when I think of myself, I think of the dream my mother never had for herself. When I talk to my mom she says that I am the one dream of hers that is coming true, I'm the accomplishment in her life that makes her proud to hold her head up high and say that's my son. I will be the only person in my family to have ever graduated from college, that's my dream and my mother痴 hard work.
