PHILIP V. D'ACHILLE
#155 - BROTHER APACHE
Hello, my name is Philip V. D'Achille and I am a sophomore at Johnson & Wales University. I was born in New Jersey and have been moving around my entire life. By the time I was 12 years old I had already lived in 9 different houses and 8 different cities. Then when I was 14 years old I finally stayed put in Kensington, MD. When I was young I really hated the fact that I was always moving. It was hard because as soon as I would make friends I had to say goodbye to them. Now, at the age of 22, I am glad that I moved around so much. I feel that it is a huge part of why I have an outgoing and social personality.
I am very fortunate to come from the family I do. My mom and dad have been happily married for twenty odd years and both are very supportive of whatever it is that I want to do with my life. I am also the oldest one of three boys. Although being the oldest has its privileges it also comes with the responsibility of being a good role model, which took me a long time to understand and embrace.
I came to Johnson & Wales because my long term goal is to be a manager at a high end resort in the Caribbean. From talking to people successful in the service industry this was one of the best schools that I could come to. I was afraid that it was going to be too late for school though. I went to Coastal Carolina in Myrtle Beach my first two years of college. After that didn't work out I took a few years off working in restaurants. Then when I had finally decided college was the best thing for me I was 21 going on 22. I came to JWU and my first night down here I was introduced to a couple of the guys in TEP. Right off the bat they where interested in seeing what kind of person I was and what things I liked to do. I had a lot in common with a lot of them and they all seemed like hard working respectful men. I also saw how close all of them where and I noticed how all of them told me about their friends who had just graduated and how much they already missed them. Before I got to school I would have never thought twice bout joining a fraternity. Now I believe that joining TEP would not only make the rest of my college career the most productive and enjoyable it could be, it will be something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. If I am accepted into TEP I believe that I will bring a hard working, fun-loving guy who genuinely cares about his friends. I will also be a confident yet humble member who is willing to do whatever it takes to make TEP the best it can be.
