MATTHEW DELBELLO
#140 BROTHER ETHER
My name is Matthew DelBello and I am 18 years old. I was born in Manhattan on May 30th,, 1991. I grew up in Hempstead on Long Island with my mother, Patricia, and my father, Bernie. Once my parents got divorced when I was in 7th grade, I moved to Charlotte, NC with my mother. She basically raised me along with my two younger sisters, Caroline and Sarah. I have played almost every sport in the book because my father always wanted me in sports. After I moved to NC I started wrestling because I wanted to try something new. I wrestled all throughout high school and enjoyed it very much. Around February, my junior year, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is the strongest woman I know and she is my idol. It was the hardest time in my life. I was always depressed. Somehow she managed to keep a positive attitude the whole way through. She never had any doubts and I think that’s why she overcame it.
After I came to college, I didn’t know anything about Greek life. The first night at school I came to a party and met some of the Brothers of Tau Epsilon Phi. I immediately felt like a Fraternity was something I should look into. I started coming around more to the parties and to just hang out with some brothers. I felt like there was a great connection between all of the brothers. They all get along great and always seemed to be there for each other. I knew that if I had the opportunity to join a Fraternity, I wanted it to be TEP.
